NAB Kerala

National Association for the Blind Kerala is a non profit, Non-Governmental Organisation working for the rights and development of more than 22,000 persons with disabilities in Kerala, covering through its 5 district revenue offices in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Wayanad.

Associated with the largest NGO for blind in the country NAB(India), NAB Kerala has been on the path of doing remarkable work in the state, helping the blind and the differently abled for a span of more than 52 years now. The organisation believes that all people with disabilities have the right to education, equal opportunity, employment, inclusion and quality of life, as their non-disabled counterparts.

National Association for the Blind, Kerala Branch (NAB) is a charitable society registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955 in the year 1962 bearing Registration No. 28/1972. NAB is also registered under;

  • Donations to NAB Kerala are exempted from income Tax under section 80G of the Income Tax Act 1961. FCRA No. 052910249.
  • Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 bearing Registration No. 052910249.
  • Kerala State Social Welfare Department under PWD Act 1995 bearing Registration No.186/2008.
  • Registered with the State Government of Kerala under Persons With Disabilities Act, vide No. 0100.
  • NAB, Kerala has been continuing as a Member of the Expert Committee to decide the Positions / Posts to be demarcated for the Persons with Disabilities in Various Departments of the State Government through Public Service Commission since 2008 under Order No. GO(p)no. 24/2008 Social Welfare Department dt. 11-04- 2008.
  • Registered with the National Trust, vide No.1105/ MD/2001. As a Non-Governmental Organisation working for the Rights and Development of 22,000 persons with disabilities in Kerala.
